Just keep your old monitor for now, and go get
yourself a nice tower (they can be found cheap)
With windows 7 (64bit) would be best option.
3 to 5 hundred will get you a pretty darn good
tower now days.
Then upgrade your monitor later, and or graphics
card etc.
Just an idea of whats out there google around

Also if you prefer laptop, the tiny ones are cheap too! (And some of the bigger models as well)
