get a new platform, new computer would be better.

as for the screens,not sure since I've never ran 2000 but if it's the smae a s the rest you should be able to go to the control panel click on display then goto the screen saver tab.. scroll to My Pictures Slide Show, click on it the click on settings and set everything up from there..
